Week 1 - Gaylord Oklahoma Family Memorial Stadium

Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

Home of the Oklahoma Sooners

Gaylord Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is the home to the Oklahoma Sooners football team.  The stadium is located the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.  I had the privilege to spend 3 seasons as an equipment manager for the football team here at OU and have many fond memories of game days.  Oklahoma football was the first football game I can remember watching and from that point on I always wanted to go to college at OU.  My experience as a student manager for the football team and the countless memories I have in this building make it something that left a positive impact on my life.  The atmosphere inside the stadium never failed to give me the chills prior to the opening kickoff of a home game.  I will always cherish the memories in this building.

The building is the essentially the cornerstone of the Oklahoma campus and is perhaps the most recognizable buildings in Oklahoma.  The stadium carries a mystique about knowing that countless Oklahoma football legends have played on its hallowed ground.  The best part of the stadium is that is essentially an "everyday" campus building.  Aside from game day, the stadium is open to the public and many students use the walkway that cuts through the south end zone to commute from the parking areas on the east side of the campus of the south oval on the west side.  Many times people will run stadium stairs in the stadium as well which allows people to enjoy it almost all the time.  Overall, the stadium creates a sense of community serving as a monument to the Oklahoma football tradition while serving a practical purpose as well.
